Vivian Maier Task
today we made masks to obscure our faces like the photographer Danny Treacy and we used random items to create a masterpiece.WWW- I was able to make something and that is unique and that stands out.EBI-it would be better if the techniques I used where more refined
Costume selfies
The character I became was one of my own creation it was an amalgamation of characters from shows from my childhood such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Bob the builder. The materials I used where glue a paper bag and photos of the characters I had chosen. What went well for me was when making the mask I was able to use all the photos I had printed. next time to improve I should try not to have any glare in the photos I take
Extended Writing Task
The first image is by Danny Treacy, the second image is by Omar Victor Diop, and the third photo is by Vivian Maier. The first one is taken with studio lighting, it presents an image of split personalities by using the different clothing. He uses a dark background with colour photography to make himself stand out in the strange clothes, which gives a feeling of mystery and maybe fear. This is a set up photo. It's a disguised self-portrait, you can't see the face and the subject is wearing a costume. Diop's picture is also set-up, and there is a merging of traditional and modern clothing, with the use of the orange football and boots with the traditional clothing. This is a costume self-portrait, and it's made in a studio so it is set up. He has used a frame to make it look more like the kind of images you would see hanging on a wall in the past. It uses studio lighting with a green background. Maier's photo is a mirror self-portrait, it uses obstruction of the face, and it is a candid picture. The fencing represents imprisonment.
All of the images are self-portraits, they're all putting on a character. In each photo, the person is the centrepiece of the photograph. Diop uses disguise to bring back the past. Vivian Maier was a street photographer, I'm not sure why she would take a picture of herself when nobody would see it, but maybe it was just a pass time. Treacy seems lost and confused, I would probably . laugh at him if I saw him, but I don't think he was trying to be funny. Maybe he was trying to represent two sides of the same coin.
Diop's picture is surprising because he is wearing football boots, maybe because football unifies people. Maybe he is wearing them to create a connection between the past and the present, and between himself and the character he is playing. Treacy's portrait is mysterious because there is no real way of knowing who it is. Maier's photo is unexpected because you can't see the camera and because a person who didn't want to be seen is taking photos in broad daylight. I like Maier's and Diop's photos most because of the symbolism.

Shadow selfie
This selfie has natural light which gives me the impression that the time of day is noon. There is one large shadow that takes nearly the whole screen. There are no objects with lines but the shadow its natural curves give us an image of what the person behind the camera looks like and the curves of the clothing worn the top had with sharp edges and its signature face. The objects with movement are the small flowers scattered randomly across the grass. The shapes in the photo are all organic and if i was to feel this photo in person i would feel the tickle of the blades of grass and the warmth of the sun
